We refuse to compromise on materials, which is why we print your affordable stickers on the same industry-leading Oracal 3640 we use for our standard line. While other shops might use generic substrates to cut costs, we utilize this 3mil intermediate PVC film because of its proven reliability. Engineered by Orafol, it features a pristine white surface for vivid color pop and a strong clear, water-bases permanent adhesive. This means you low-cost stickers will still bond securely to flat surfaces like laptops, packaging, and glass, offering the same dimensional stability and outdoor durability you expect from a professional print shop.

Our cheap sticker material is a quality vinyl known as Oracal 3640. It has a strong adhesive that bonds to nearly all dry, clean surfaces. 3640’s strong adhesive, with light pressure, bonds firmly. This means you must apply the sticker accurately, as repositioning it can damage or destroy the sticker if repositioning is needed. Do not apply to painted wood or vehicles, as removal will most likely harm the wood’s paint or the vehicle’s clear coat. Painted vehicle metal should only receive low-tack or wrap vinyl. For glossy plastics and powder-coated metal, 3M IJ39 is recommended for its extreme bond.

This economy Oracal 3640 vinyl and adhesive combo sticks to flat surfaces best, as well as gentle curves. This cheaper vinyl sticker does not remain stuck through sharp direction changes for extended periods of time. 3M 40, Duration X, 3M 180CV3, and 3M 175CV3 are formulated for sticking to more extreme angles.

This cheap vinyl sticker has a clear adhesive; this is not meant to cover up underlying graphics. Oracal’s Orajet 3640 is not recommended for use as a cover-up sticker. You can use Oracal 3641 for blocking out color underneath the economy decal, as it has the same vinyl characteristics but has a grey-tinted adhesive for block-out purposes.

This economy-calendared vinyl, Oracal 3640, performs well outdoors for over a year without lamination and two years or more when laminated before noticeable fading. When used indoors with lamination, service life is effectively long-term, though gradual material shrinkage can begin after roughly one year — a normal characteristic of lower-cost calendared films. Adding a laminate makes vinyl decals easier to handle and install by increasing overall stiffness, which helps prevent stretching or wrinkling during application. Lamination also improves resistance to sunlight, abrasion, and routine cleaning with cloths or mild cleaners. These durability timelines come from real-world testing by Good Guys Signs in the Florida sun on multiple surfaces—not brochure specifications.

This economy sticker material is commonly chosen for flat indoor applications where cost and print quality matter most. Typical uses include promotional stickers, product labels, glass surfaces, and simple sealing applications on both paper and plastic packaging. It’s also well-suited for full-color sticker runs where short-term performance is acceptable. We’ve produced these stickers at scale for retail environments such as gift shops, where they’re often kiss-cut and applied to smooth surfaces like rear windows or display areas highlighting local attractions.

Every sticker is produced at true high resolution using professional-grade printing equipment. We run only commercial printers from Epson, Canon, and Durst, and we print exclusively with genuine OEM inks—never third-party or economy substitutes. Print output is held to a minimum of 300 DPI for crisp detail, clean edges, and accurate color. For designs that demand extra finesse, including smooth gradients and very small text, we use a dedicated multi-ink Epson system capable of rendering fine detail that lower-end setups simply can’t match.

Adhesive Type
Oracal 3640 (Orajet 3640) has a clear, permanent, water-based adhesive designed for reliable bonding on smooth surfaces. The adhesive sets firmly with light application pressure and continues to strengthen as it cures.
Because the adhesive is transparent, this vinyl is not intended for cover-up or blockout applications. After a full 24-hour bond period, adhesion strength measures approximately 3.7 lbs per inch on stainless steel, offering significantly more hold than low-tack alternatives such as Oracal 3621. For best results, application is recommended at temperatures above 50°F, allowing the adhesive to properly flow and bond to the surface.
Vinyl Brand
Oracal’s Orajet 3640 is a 3 mil thick white PVC vinyl for short- to medium-term applications. It is German-engineered for consistency of printing and cutting, the best economy vinyl we’ve ever found. The backing paper, aka “Release Liner”, is 83# silicone-coated paper.

Best Use Cases
Oracal 3640 is a versatile, budget-friendly vinyl suited for short- to mid-term applications on flat surfaces. It’s a popular choice for promotional and giveaway stickers, offering a clean, bright white finish that closely resembles higher-grade materials at a lower cost. This vinyl also performs well for die-cut and shaped decals, thanks to its uniform structure and reliable cutting behavior, which helps maintain smooth edges and consistent results across production runs.
Outdoor Life
Outdoor performance includes both color durability and material stability over time. For Oracal Orajet 3640, unlaminated prints typically maintain appearance outdoors for over one year before noticeable fading begins. Adding a UV-resistant economy laminate extends outdoor color life to two years or more. Material movement follows a similar timeline. Without lamination, gradual shrinkage may begin around the one-year mark. When laminated, dimensional changes are generally delayed, with shrinkage becoming noticeable closer to 18 months to two years, depending on exposure conditions. Longevity estimates are based on real-world Florida sun exposure across multiple surface types, as tested over 3 years by Good Guys Signs.

High-definition Printing
Orajet 3640 delivers a clean, bright white base with smooth matte or gloss finish options, making it well suited for detailed digital printing. Graphics reproduce sharply, colors stay consistent, and even demanding designs — including precise PMS color targets — render reliably on this material.
The vinyl is compatible with all major modern ink technologies, including Canon’s latest ink systems, Epson resin and eco-solvent inks, and Durst UV printing. This broad ink receptivity ensures consistent results across different production methods without sacrificing clarity or finish quality.
