Protecting Your Car Wrap

There are very minimal things you can do to protect your car wrap that can maximize how long it will last you. It basically comes down to three things.

  • Where you park
  • Buying a car cover
  • Car washes

If at all possible, you should park in a garage, or at least out of the elements. Constant exposure to weather like brutal sun, rain, or snow can reduce the longevity of your wrap. This especially holds true if you happen to live where the elements are extreme.

Spending a few dollars on a car cover will most definitely add to the lifespan of your wrap. Keeping that wrap protected from weather, bird droppings, and the like makes smart sense. Even if you have a non-wrapped car, a cover helps maintain cleanliness, luster, and keeps a vehicle more scratch and abrasion-free.

What about car washes? You bought a wrap to give your vehicle a facelift or promote your company. Makes sense you’d want to keep it looking sharp with regular washing.  Here’s the skinny. You can bring your wrapped vehicle to a brushless car wash, though hand washing is safer and more thorough. Brush car washes will be too rough on the film. Using a car wash that has brushes will degrade the wrap and cause peeling and lifted edges. If a car wash uses water spray and no brushes, it should be safe for most vehicle wraps.
