When you’re looking for an inexpensive yet effective advertising sign, think about using our Gator foam signs. You may have heard of foam board signs, but Gator foam is a grade above. In this brief article, we’ll get into the material that makes it a step up, printing options, and more.

Gator Foam Sign Material:
These types of signs are more durable than traditional foam board signs. They are comprised of a rigid foam board, which is the industry standard for resisting warping. Because they are constructed of a polystyrene foam core sandwiched between 2 wood-fiber veneers, they have some properties that make them more desirable to many of our clients. Foam core products are lightweight yet have a very short lifespan. Gator boards, however, deliver the bonus of a dense, stiff surface face that does not warp, dent, or bend as quickly as standard foam board signs. While a Gator foam board does have wood as part of its makeup, it is still largely composed of foam. With that, it still is susceptible to warping when exposed to moisture. National retailers use this product exclusively for their temporary signage because ot its resistance to rough handling and its high-end print quality.
Printing:
We print directly onto gatorboard material using high-quality UV ink. Gator foam boards typically have a matte finish, but if you’re seeking a shinier, sheen look to your printed image, we recommend you choose our digitally printed decal version.

Both of our print finishes give long-lasting, vibrant appearances and are cured (dried) with UV light so that the inks won’t peel away from your sign.
Common Uses:
While national retailers like to invest in Gator signs, small businesses follow suit due to their affordability. For indoor signage, they can be viewed as a far better option than other forms of advertising. Gator foam signs are commonly used for several practical and promotional purposes, including:
- point of purchase displays
- directional signage
- menu boards or daily specials
- trade shows, expos, and conferences
- registrations or welcomes

Gator Board Care:
Handle your Gator foam with moderate care, as foam products can be damaged easier than metal signs. While this material is more rigid than standard foam products, it can still break with improper care.
To clean, use a dry, non-abrasive cloth. Don’t apply any liquids or cleaning solutions when you do.
When storing your Gator sign, put it in a cool, low-moisture, low-humidity environment and always inside. Lay it down on a flat surface, and make sure not to put any other objects on it. Another way to store your sign is to place it in an upright position away from any sharp object or anything else that might damage it.
