About 40 million tons of PVC are produced every single year. While inexpensive, we want the best for you when you get set to order yours. So, this brief article will go over the displaying and caring of your next sign.

PVC Sign Display:

To put your sign indoors or outdoors? You can do both, without question. Inside, a PVC sign will last 2 to 3 years and longer in a low-moisture, low-humidity environment. Foamed products absorb moisture over time, which will expand and contract in temperatures that vary. This product is not meant for periods of extended outdoor use. Moisture is in the air at a greater level outside, even if you don’t feel that brutal humidity that we do during the summers here in Florida. Also, if displayed outside, try to do so out of the sun. If the sun gets to your sign, it will warp it sooner than later. So, there’s your short answer when you’re mulling over where to display your signage. As to how best to display it, it can be at ground level, resting against a flat surface. It can also be hung, but be aware that the thicker and additionally heavier a sign is, you would be better served if you mounted it on a wall. This can be easily accomplished by using screws, double-sided tape, an adhesive, or our multi-mount standoff system.

Caring for Your PVC Sign:

PVC material is rigid but also bendable. Bending does not damage the PVC unless done to an extreme point. Slight bending is harmless. You’ll want to handle your PVC sign with moderate care. The surface of the sign can be damaged with pointed, sharp objects, leaving an indentation. PVC can be ruined more readily than rigid metals.

When it comes to cleaning as part of caring for your sign, there is a difference in whether the sign is direct printed or you have us add a decal over the print. If it’s direct printed, you should do everything to avoid using water or any liquid cleaners. If any liquid gets on the sign, you run the risk of smearing the ink. And while these signs are inexpensive, we wouldn’t want you to have to buy a new one by not having the information you need. Use a dry or slightly damp lint-free cloth and gently wipe the dirtied area.

If we add a decal over the print, then the ink is completely covered. So if you’re cleaning a sign of this nature, you can use water or sprays to help get out the affected portion of your sign without worry. To prevent dirt buildup, PVC signs should consistently be wiped down every two weeks, and you shouldn’t wait longer than one month to clean them.

If you have any other questions regarding the display or care for your next PVC sign, call us at (800) 614-8040.
